Bitter Ends - Venice Women's Sailing Squadron

 

FWSA Meeting, September 21, 2010

    Twelve Bitter Ends attended the September FWSA meeting at Countryside Country Club in Clearwater hosted by the Windlasses of Dunedin. 
    Highlights of the meeting included a report by Penny Washburn, our 1st Delegate, on our activities since May.  A rousing speech by the 2010 Young Woman Sailor Award (YWSA) winner Paige Railey (receiving a  trophy and $1,000 for sailing expenses which was awarded at the May 2010 meeting and accepted on her behalf by her twin sister).  Paige told of her ups and downs in her sailing career and her current goal to win an Olympic Gold in sailing.
    Our speaker was experienced sailor Captain Dave Ellis speaking on the subject “How to Sail a Pram FAST”.  It was an informative session filled with sailing tips.
    After lunch our own Bitter End Karen Williams won the 50/50 drawing for $132.00

Meeting at Nokomis shopping center at 7:30 am, Beth Anderson and Penny Washburn were our drivers for the 1 1/2 hour drive.

Deb Schuck, the FWSA Social Director, has several activities planned including an Oct. 25 kayak trip on Weedon Island.


Centerpieces were small wood prams next to flower arrangements.
