FWSA Meeting, May 17, 2012

Eight Bitter Ends attended the May FWSA meeting at Davis Island (Dinghy Dames).  Penny Washburn, our 2nd Delegate, gave her report on our activities since January.  Highlights of the meeting, were the Lilly Kaighin Award and Young Woman Sailor Award given to Wendy Reuss, our and many other clubs nominee this year.   The Young Woman Sailor Award (YWSA) trophy and money were accepted by Wendy's parents, her mother is Luffing Lassie Nanette Reuss.  Wendy was brought to us via Skype while at school in RI doing extra sailing practice for the World Champianships.  We didn't win the PRAM Spirit Award, though Interclub Chair Ann Carroll and others participated in almost every Interclub.  However it was close, Sarasota's Luffing Lassies won for the first time.   The speaker, Dr. Fabri, spoke on Dinghy Safety.  Prevention and planning ahead for possible injuries were key points.  A shopping stop at Ikea on the way home completed our great day.  Thanks to Mardi Skoegard for driving all eight of us together.  Pictures by Nancy Marik and an outdoor self timer group shot by Judy Karr.

All had a good day!   Submitted by Nancy Marik.
